We offer hourly rentals of recreational kayaks on Tarrytown Lakes in Tarrytown, New York. No experience is necessary for recreational rentals. This is a great quiet water environment to take yourself or your family for a fun afternoon of paddling at your own pace. The Tarrytown Lakes serve as a home to a wide variety of wildlife including ducks, herons, and turtles, just to name a few. This serene environment is a great place to introduce kayaking to young children or beginner kayakers who are looking for a relaxing afternoon of paddling. Fishing is permitted but you have to bring your own equipment. Reservations for recreational kayaks on the Tarrytown Lakes are recommended but NOT required. Rentals include Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) and paddles. We have both single and tandem kayaks for rent.

Recreational Rentals: We offer hourly rentals of recreational sit-on-top kayaks at Croton Point Park. No experience is necessary for recreational rentals. This is a great way for adventurous first timers and beginners to enjoy the beauty of the Hudson River and Croton Point Park. Paddle out from our launch, explore the near shore areas, and gaze across the wide expanse of Haverstraw Bay. Fishing is permitted but you have to bring your own equipment. Reservations for recreational kayaks at Croton Point are recommended but NOT required. Rentals include Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) and paddles. We have both single and tandem kayaks for rent.
Touring Rentals: The touring kayak rentals are a great venue for intermediate - skilled paddlers to experience the Hudson River on their own. Paddle out from our launch at Croton Point Park and gaze across the wide expanse of Haverstraw Bay at High Tor and Hook Mountain on the west side of the river. Explore Half Moon Bay or paddle down along the peninsula towards Teller’s Point. Views of the Tappan Zee Bridge, Sing Sing Prison, and even the New York City skyline are possible on clear days. Depending on the tides, there is access to the Croton River, which makes for a great full day paddling! Rentals include Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs), bilge pump, paddle float, and paddle. We have both single and tandem kayaks for rent.
Advanced reservations ARE required for touring kayaks at Croton Point Park. Participants must have successfully completed a basic kayaking course with Hudson River Recreation OR be able to demonstrate appropriate paddling and rescue skills. Participants that successfully complete either our Introduction to Sea Kayaking lesson or Rescue Clinic instructional program will be given a voucher for a 1-hour rental to offset the costs of the lesson.
